This is a great development for Medicaid recipients who are worried about chronic disease prevention — one of the largest insurers in New York is now offering diabetes prevention programs to Medicaid recipients for the first time. With more than 6 million New Yorkers affected by chronic disease, according to New York Dept of Health, this sort of offering has the potential to impact millions of lives.
The New York Times covered UnitedHealth’s diabetes prevention plan when it debuted in seven US cities a year ago, and projected the program saving the health care system billions. It’s great to see the expansion to New York’s Medicaid recipients!
