The State Department of Health (DOH) today extended the deadline for applications for potential medical marijuana dispensers and manufacturers.  The deadline to apply is now June 5th.

Assembly Member Gottfried, the Health Committee Chair, introduced a bill to expand the number of ailments treatable under the medical marijuana regulations.

This week the DOH released its long awaited review on hydrofracking.  The Report is over 2,000 pages long and took several years to finish.

First Lady Chirlane McCray announced the launch of a program at Bellevue Hospital for kids suffering from mental health issues.  Mental health has been a key issue for the first lady.

According to a recent study from the University of Colorado, more than half of all Medicaid enrollees prefer going to the emergency room rather than primary care.  They like the “one stop shop” of going to the an emergency room visit better than the cost a follow up visits they feel are associated with primary care.
